Why Host a S.M.A.R.T. Event?
Promoter & Tournament Requirements:
To maintain high competition standards and consistent support across all circuit events, S.M.A.R.T. promoters must meet the following criteria:
Circuit Capacity Note: To ensure event quality and avoid scheduling burnout, S.M.A.R.T. strictly caps the circuit at a maximum of 8 tournaments per year (excluding the end-of-year S.M.A.R.T. Championships). Spots are limited!

Promoter & Tournament Requirements:
To maintain high competition standards and consistent support across all circuit events, S.M.A.R.T. promoters must meet the following criteria:
- Mandatory Divisions: Tournaments must offer at least Traditional Forms, Weapons Forms, and Point Sparring.
- Circuit Support: Promoters must actively support every other S.M.A.R.T. circuit event during the season with a minimum of 5 competitors and at least 1 Black Belt judge. (Failure to meet this support requirement may disqualify the tournament from returning the following season.)
- Date Selection: Your event date must not conflict with any existing S.M.A.R.T. tournament or any I.P.P.O.N.E. circuit event.
- Rule Adherence: All tournaments must run in strict accordance with official circuit rules. Review the full S.M.A.R.T. Guidelines.

Application Timeline & Selection Process
- Submit Request (By November 1st): Download and complete the Tournament Addition Request Form below. Submit it to the S.M.A.R.T. Director prior to November 1st for consideration for the upcoming competition year.
- Circuit Vote (By December 1st): The S.M.A.R.T. Director and current promoters will evaluate all submissions and vote. Applicants will be notified of the decision no later than December 1st.
- Probationary Year: Approved events receive a promoter contract and join the circuit for a 1-year probationary period.
- Annual Review: At the end of the probationary season, the circuit leadership will review the tournament's execution and support. Upon a successful vote, full recurring status on the circuit will be granted with an annual promoter contract.
